Project Description

An agrivoltaic farm is an innovative farming method that combines agriculture with solar energy production. This dual-use system involves installing solar panels above crops, enabling the land to be used for both agricultural and energy production purposes simultaneously.

  • Solar panel arrays: Multiple arrays of solar panels are mounted on elevated, stilted structures. This raised configuration is crucial as it allows sunlight to reach the crops or grazing animals below while generating electricity above.
  • Agricultural land use: The ground beneath and between the solar arrays is depicted as green farmland. In some sections, there are small crops (like trees or shrubs ) planted beneath and behind the panels. In other areas, the green space suggests pasture or traditional row crops.
  • Livestock integration (Agroforestry/Silvopasture): Small figures of cows/cattle are placed throughout the model, suggesting the land is also used for grazing. This demonstrates the potential for combining silvopasture (grazing animals in an area with trees) or simply livestock farming with solar energy generation.

The model provides a miniature, visual representation of how agrivoltaics optimizes land use by achieving the dual purpose of renewable energy production and food/feed production, showcasing an integrated and sustainable farming and energy system.
